Background:

People involved with the criminal legal system have much higher exposure to trauma than the general population. Interest in trauma-informed criminal justice practices is growing, but how to implement and sustain them in community supervision is not well understood. To address this, the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) and the HILS Lab are developing, implementing, and evaluating the North Carolina Trauma-Informed and Engaged Supervision (NC TIES) initiative.

Aims:

• Identify the components of NC TIES model

• Assess officer and chief knowledge and attitudes about trauma-informed supervision

• Examine officer and chief perspectives about TIDES

• Assess the implementation and impact of NC TIES
